Tickets are purchased through the official Ministry of Culture website. We recommend buying them at least 3 months in advance, especially for high season (May–September).
2. What is the best time to visit Machu Picchu?
The best time is during the dry season (April to October), when there is less chance of rain and better conditions to enjoy the views.
3. How much time is needed to visit Machu Picchu?
A typical visit lasts between 2 and 4 hours depending on the selected circuit. If you climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you will need an additional 1–2 hours.
4. Do I need a guide to visit Machu Picchu?
Yes, since 2019 it is mandatory to enter with an official tour guide. You can hire one in Aguas Calientes or include it in your tour.

The most common route is: transport from Cusco to Ollantaytambo, train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, and finally bus or hike from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu.
